"I have been with A Step Above Health Management Systems for the past two years. During that time, my collections have never been better. Outsourcing my billing to them has been one of the best things I have done in my 38 years of practice.
This was my situation: I had been in practice for over 30 years. I had always had an in-house biller. One day, my biller left. That actually was one of the best days of my life (LOL). Communication is never a problem. I actually communicate with my biller several times a day through email. I get a response almost immediately.
Efficiency has never been better. Rather than paying my biller to sit on the phone with an insurance company for an hour, only to be hung up on and have to call back, my employees are able to help with the daily tasks at hand in the practice. I was able to reduce the highest cost person in the office, my biller, and now have employees who don't have to be boggled with the daily billing issues that happen constantly. I was able to redirect my employees into more effective roles and increase production.
When I analyzed my billing costs and realized that I was paying much more than just a salary to my biller, outsourcing became even more obvious. But outsourcing is more than just sending your billing to someone else to do. How well they going to do it? Are they going follow-up on claims the same way I was having my biller follow-up? Are they going to call the insurance companies and fight for every dollar I am entitled to? The answer to that surprised me. They actually do a much better job and are more effective than my staff was. And trust me, I was on top of everything going on in my office and it still wasn't done as effectively as A Step Above is doing it.
The bonus on top of all of this is that they worked my old claims. They were able to capture old money that I never would have been able to. It almost paid for their first year of doing my billing!
